Fair Use Policy
Last updated 6 August 2026
This policy explains exactly what the usage limits on Kopya are, why they exist, and what happens if an account goes past them. It is written to be read, not to hide anything.
Why there are limits at all
Every answer costs us money, because every answer is a real call to a language model. Your subscription covers that cost. The limits below exist so that one automated account cannot consume what a thousand ordinary accounts pay for.
The limits
Starter (free)
- 25 answers per day. The counter resets at 00:00 UTC.
- 4 answers per minute.
Pro
- No answer counter. Pro is sold as unlimited and there is no quota you will meet in normal use.
- A fair-use ceiling of roughly 842 answers per day. This is an anti-abuse ceiling, not a plan allowance. For scale: a heavy daily user typically lands around 100 answers a day, so the ceiling sits about eight times above intensive human use. It resets at 00:00 UTC.
- 20 answers per minute. Enough for rapid back-and-forth; not enough to drive the app from a script.
We describe Pro as unlimited because that is how it behaves for the people who use it. We publish the ceiling here rather than burying it, so nobody discovers a limit they were not told about.
What happens when you reach a limit
The app tells you plainly, and says when the limit resets. Nothing is charged, no data is deleted, and your account is not penalised. Reaching a limit is not a violation of this policy — it is the system working as described.
If you genuinely need more than the Pro ceiling for legitimate work, email oxygrows@gmail.com and we will raise it. We would rather lift a limit for a real user than lose them to it.
What counts as abuse
Abuse is not heavy use. It is specifically:
- Driving the app programmatically — scripting the hotkey, automating captures, or calling the API outside the desktop app.
- Sharing one account across multiple people, or reselling access to your account.
- Attempting to extract, proxy, or resell model access — including using Kopya as a general-purpose API for another product.
- Circumventing the limits: multiple free accounts to multiply the daily allowance, forged requests, or tampering with the client to bypass checks.
- Using the service for anything illegal, or to capture material you have no right to capture.
How we enforce it
Enforcement is graduated, and we act on measured usage rather than suspicion:
- Rate limiting. Bursts above the per-minute limit are refused. This is automatic, temporary, and carries no penalty.
- Restriction. An account showing a sustained automated usage pattern may have API access suspended while the account itself stays intact. We will tell you why, and restriction is reversible as soon as the cause is resolved.
- Termination. Reserved for deliberate, repeated circumvention or reselling. Where an account is terminated for abuse and had time remaining on a paid period, we refund the unused portion — we are not interested in keeping money for a service we have stopped providing.
Every enforcement action is logged with a reason. If you think one was wrong, reply to the notice or email oxygrows@gmail.com and a human will look at it.
What we measure
To enforce the above we record, per request: the time, the number of tokens the model consumed, the resulting cost, and whether the request succeeded. We do not retain your screenshots or the answers. See the Privacy Policy.
Changes
If we change a limit in a way that reduces what you get, we will email active subscribers before it takes effect, and you can cancel for a pro-rata refund of the unused period.
